The Final Countdown...

Yes, It is only Monday but come Friday I will be headed down to New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras

King Cake= Amazingness (enough said?)

Days Until Departure: 5

$$$

So being the big girl that I am I opened another bank account. My original bank is no where close to Mississippi so it made depositing checks and doing withdraws really hard. With that being said finances have been on my mind. I have always been a saver and understand how a budget works but lately that seems to have slipped my mind. It's been more about what designer is on the label rather then how much it is costing me and has a college student that is NOT GOOD! I have always enjoyed the finer things in life. As a young lady preparing to make it on her own spending three figures on a pair of Hunter rain boots is just not practical, when my toes will stay just as dry in Target rain boots. Maybe when I get my doctorate those Hunter boots will be more in my price range, until then I guess it is called "living within my means."

"Being a Gentleman is not about the brands you wear. It’s about civility and class with charm. Be charming, be confident. Be well put together. A confident Gentleman in a $15 dollar oxford will outshine someone in Brooks Brothers who lacks confidence. Trust me."

Spring Break

Plans are made and flights are book! Originally the plan was Destin, Florida with my best friends for a week in the sun, although that went way side. So now I am headed to Fort Worth for a few days to meet my boyfriend's family. While the other part of the trip will be at home, bring him to meet my parents (God help him!) I booked the flights less then an hour ago and haven't stopped smiling, I am getting really excited to be back in a real city and with the people who know me best. You can take the girl out of the city but you can't take the city out of the girl.

Sunday Adventure

It has been absolutely gorgeous out this week but with everything going on I hadn't had the chance to go out and enjoy it. Well, this morning Matt and I took Jupiter to the dog park, he loved it! Matt and I ran while Jupiter trotted along side. With no pockets I held on to my car key (just the key not on a chain-mistake #1) After our first mile Matt asked if I wanted him to hold on to it without thinking I gave it to him. Needless to say after 4 miles, all three of us were excused and ready to leave... I need a key to get into the car and somehow the key fell out of Matt's pocket. A few more times around the path and still no key.  Exhausted and kind of mad we made it back to my dorm where I had a spare key. Matt was pretty upset with himself, but to me so many other worse things could have happened. Just thank God I had a spare key back in my room and for my wonderful girlfriends who drove us back to my car!

With Authority

In speech today we learned about "biting into our words." We learned to speak with authority  which is something that is being lost on this generation. Speaking correctly is a pet peeve of mine so I really enjoyed this video, hopefully you will too...

Valentine's Day Aftermath...

Never have I been a huge fan of Valentine’s Day. I love romance and that kind of thing but I think that there shouldn’t be one day that should make a couple appreciate “us”.  Not only that but showing love should be done daily not once a year. I don’t hate it my any means but it’s not my favorite holiday.
This year however was different.  I had to put my views of Valentine’s day aside as this year’s plans included my boyfriend. With his crazy weekend and my crazy week we kept it low key. Has I had meetings and sorority events till almost nine we ate desert and just relaxed. Which in it’s self was enough because I haven’t seen him much with everything going on, we did exchange presents, although what really made me feel special was a hand written letter. I won’t go into details but I honestly got really emotional while reading it.
As usual my mom and dad did send me a little something in the form of a package and card. But what caught me by surprise was a package from one of my friends at home. Derek (my friend from back home) and I have been friends for awhile and senior year we became closer then ever. He kept me sane the final semester has we always-talked football or music or just about life. Well unexpectedly he sent me a Valentine’s Day package. Inside was a blanket he made for me, it sports Ole Miss colors and footballs… too perfect! It is so adorable and proudly it is being displayed at the foot of my bed. I am so blessed to have such an amazing friend.
All and all, Valentine’s Day came and went, with it came smiles and tears of happiness. Just remember that emotions shouldn’t be expressed once a year rather daily.

Happy Valentine's Day!

It is not a reminder of how much I love you. It is a reminder of how much I love us and how much I love being apart of your life.

Friday Favorites!

So Friday in general just put me in a good mood but what makes it better is when its full of my favorite things. It was freezing and icy out which called for my amazingly soft Vineyard Vines Tradewind's Fleece. I love this thing, it's so cozy yet, still looks cute. It defiantly beats a frumpy oversize sweatshirt.
While I mentioned the gross weather out I should mention that it makes my skin ridiculously dry which bring me to my next favorite thing, Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion. I would not make it through winter without a few bottles. What I love most is how it doesn’t make my skin feel all greasy which makes holding on to my Tervis Tumbler so much easier! Another one of my favorite things, its perfect for my  morning coffee and later on in the day a refreshing Diet Dr. Pepper. My tervis tumbler has been to hell and back and has yet to crack! It is super durable and Ole Miss spirited, making it even better!  When it’s not full of a yummy drink it is in my LL Bean Boat and Tote. Of course it’s monogrammed and once again super durable. The long handles make it perfect for class and my Mac fits in perfectly.
As I am an unemployed student another thing I love doing especially on Friday’s is depositing checks. I am switching to a local bank but have a check to deposit this week which makes me super excited. I am headed to the bank right after I let out Jupiter (my boyfriend’s roommate dog, they in Ohio for their fraternity this weekend) Jupiter is included in my favorite things, he is a sweetheart and just plain adorable.
Once again it’s a late Friday afternoon so shut down the computer, get a quick nap and go rage tonight! It’s been a long week you deserve to have a little fun!

Her Southern Charm...

I really like necklaces, always have. I can take or leave bracelets, my rings hardly change and earrings tend to get lost after a long night. While snowed-in I found an adorable site full of cute charmed necklaces called Her Southern Charm. I have been looking through them for the past few hours and there isn't one I wouldn't wear. With the big Valentine's day monday it's to late for the present idea but something to keep in mind.

Rascal Flattin All Night...

In the middle of my friday afternoon nap, I get a phone call from the wonderful Katelyn and Renae, my best friends who just happen to live next door. They summoned me to their room ASAP, half asleep and not very happily I do like I was told. Renae was on her computer looking at ticketmaster and was like "what do you think about going to the RASCAL FLATTS concert tomorrow?!" Without a seconds thought I was in and we bought some cheap seats for the concert the next night. A little spontaneous never killed anyone right! We headed to Tupelo which is only like an hours drive. Picked up a real Starbucks (not a University Bookstore one) and some dinner on the way and began our perfect girls night. It was just what the doctor had ordered.
